LOOK FOR. . . Carol’s essays in Victoria Magazine. As writer-in-residence for 2019, Carol’s personal essays on books, art, food, gardening and home life appear in every issue.

THANKS to everyone who helped test recipes for the $5 Foodie cookbook! Your enthusiastic support and comments mean everything. THANKS, too, to readers of The House at Royal Oak who continue to write us. It is so very gratifying to know that our experiences have much in common. Carol and Hugo, her husband and partner in all adventures, enjoy answering letters and email from readers.

MORE THANKS to the wonderful cooks and art lovers who joined us at the San Diego Museum of Art for “A French Impressionist Picnic.”  With daughters Lucy and Amanda as fantastic cooking assistants for the daylong program and lecture, everything ran smoothly.

. . . AND to the art lovers, tea drinkers, and volunteer bakers who celebrated springtime with “An Impressionists’ Tea” at libraries on Cape Cod. Following a talk by Carol on the culinary and tea-drinking traditions of these great artists, all enjoyed tea, conversation and Monet’s favorite almond cake.
